Tribute of Respect.

CENTRE GROVE LODGE, July 21, 1862

WHEREAS, It has pleased Almighty God in His all-wise Providence to remove from time to eternity our much-esteemed brother, William C. Simpson, of Rockingham county, and this cut off in the prime of life, while on the filed of battle in the defense of his country one, who when with us, enjoyed our fullest confidence and esteem; therefore resolved,

            That while we bow in humble submission to the will of Him who hath the power to give and to take away, we cannot but mourn our sad bereavement.

            That we offer our warmest sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased, and while they have lost a kind husband, father and friend, we too, have lost a worthy and faithful brother, and will freely mingle our tears with theirs, and point them to that eternal Source which alone is the giver of all good gifts and graces.

            That we wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days, and that a copy of these Resolutions be sent to the family of our deceased brother, and also to the Greensborough Patriot for publication.
